Baptism

The Community of St. Elizabeth Parish welcomes you as you come to plan the Baptism of your child. Arrangements for baptizing your child should be made as soon as possible after birth. Parents of children under seven years of age should contact the Pastoral Center to obtain information and sign up for one of the Baptism preparation classes. Both parents and godparents must attend one pre-baptism class. There is one class per month offered in English and one in Spanish. Parents should apply at least a month in advance for a baptism. Children age seven and over become part of the Children’s Catechumenate to prepare together with their parents and godparents for the Sacraments of Initiation, Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation.

Registration forms are available at the Parish Center Office and website.

For more information on upcoming Baptism Preparation Classes, please contact the Pastoral Center at (626) 797-1167

 R.C.I.A.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the normal way for unbaptized persons and those who have been baptized in another Christian tradition to become a Catholic, through a process of discerning and ritualizing the stages of gradual conversion. The rite of Christian initiation is designed for adults (and children of catechetical age) who, after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God and enter the way of faith and conversion as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts. By God’s help they will be strengthened spiritually during their preparation and at the proper time will receive the sacraments fruitfully. (RCIA Introduction 1)

Matrimony & Weddings

Marriage is a “covenant or partnership of life between a man and woman, through the Sacrament of Matrimony, is a sign of God’s love and faithfulness. The Christian community shares their joy as they prepare to enter a new life together in the holy Sacrament of Marriage. A sacramental Marriage celebrated in the Catholic Church acknowledges the importance of God in the lives of both husband and wife.

Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Penance, also known as the Rite of Reconciliation, is the “liturgical celebration of God’s forgiveness of the sins of the penitent, who is thus reconciled with God and with the Church.” The acts of the penitent-contrition, the confession of sins, and satisfaction or reparation-together with the prayer of absolution by the priest, constitute the essential elements of the Sacrament of Penance

Please watch this brief video clip that speaks to us of the Sacrament of Reconciliation as an expression of God’s sacrificial love:
