Welcome to Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Parish!
My Dear Friends,
You will find Saint Elizabeth’s to be a warm and welcoming community of faith. It is a pleasure to welcome you to our family.
As a worshiping community, the center of our Catholic faith is the Eucharist, where we gather to be spiritually nourished and fed by hearing God’s Word proclaimed, to reflect on how it applies to what’s going on in our lives right now, and then to receive God’s greatest gift – the gift of Himself – in the Eucharist. There is nothing we do as Catholic Christians that is more important than gathering as a worshiping community for the celebration of Mass. I look forward to your weekly presence and participation in this most important community celebration.
Saint John Paul II referred to the family as the domestic church. Saint Elizabeth’s is a family-oriented parish which offers Family Masses every Sunday at 10:15 am. On the second Sunday of the month, our family Mass is hosted by our Parish School students. But, more importantly, you will discover that there is a unique and genuine sense in our community of being one large, diverse family. We are nourished and enriched by our culturally, ethnically and racially diverse community. We can sit and share our “pozole” with friends after Mass one week and join them the following Sunday for “lumpia and adobo” or delicious pastries from our Mission Circle ladies the next!
I invite you to browse through our website to discover the many activities and ministries available to you in our diverse and vibrant faith community. And, I encourage you to get involved and join one of our ministries or groups.
You will find many opportunities to love and to serve: from the English and Spanish prayer groups, to our weekly adorers; from the liturgical ministers to our music ministry; from our Catechists to our Adult Faith Formation volunteers; from our our active Saint Vincent de Paul to the volunteers who help feed the homeless at “Union Station”. You will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, conferences and retreats. This and much more awaits you! You will meet and make wonderful new friends, with whom you can engage in fellowship, worship and service.
I assure you, you have made an excellent choice for your new parish home. It is the generosity of so many parishioners who share their time, talent and treasure that makes possible all that the parish has to offer. If you regularly attend mass at St. Elizabeth’s, I encourage you to register as a member of our faith community.
I look forward to getting to know you better and serving as your pastor at Saint Elizabeth’s for many years to come!
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Fr. Modesto Lewis Pérez
